Veritas Fic FAQ

Q: What is this Boondock Saints thing that you are all so hyped about?
A: It's a fabulous film made by Troy Duffy. You can go to the film's site to find out more about the movie. Also check out our Links page for other informative sites.

Q: Who's in charge of Veritas Fic?
A: Stone Princess graciously updates the archive, Vox Populli has been kind enough to host it. Many members of the original Veritas Fic Mailing List generously donated funds to get the site going. If there is a problem with an archived story, or if you just have comments or suggestions, please send them to veritasfic@popullus.net.

Q: Can anyone archive on Veritas Fic?
A: Anyone may archive a Boondock Saints story here, even if they don't belong to the affiliated mailing list. List archivists reserve the right to determine some stories unsuitable for this archive. We accept gen, het and slash of all ratings. Although you don't need to belong to the mailing list to archive on Veritas Fic, you do need to be subscribed to the mailing list to have your story posted to both the archive and the mailing list simultaneously. Anyone over 18 years of age is welcome to join the Veritas Fic Mailing List.

Q: What's not allowed on Veritas Fic?
A: As far as content goes, we respect our host, Populli.net, and ask that you not include the following:

  • Content that contains or links to: bestiality or child pornography.
  • Content that contains "Real Person" fiction (such as ActorFic or BandFic). (Links to such content on other sites is acceptable.)
  • Content that condones, promotes, contains, or links to warez, cracks, hacks, their associated utilities, or other piracy-related information, whether for educational purposes or not.
  • Content which harasses, threatens, defames, or abuses others or promotes or incites hate of any individual or group.
  • Content that exploit images of children under 18 years of age or links to any site that does so.
  • Content that posts or discloses personal identification information or private information of individuals under the age of 13 or in connection with materials directed toward individuals under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
  • Content that provides, sells, or offers to sell the following: controlled substances, illegal drugs and drug contraband, alcohol, weapons, pirated materials, pornography or sexual products, programs to attack others, illegal goods, escort services, instructions on making, assembling, or obtaining illegal goods or weapons, information used to break copyright or trademark violations, to destroy others' property, or to harm any people or animals.

Additionally, Veritas Fic will not tolerate plagiarism. Plagiarists will have all their work removed from the site and will not be allowed to archive with us in the future. If you believe your work (or someone else's work) has been plagiarized, please e-mail the archivists at veritasfic@popullus.net with the name of the story, the name of the story or text you believe has been plagiarized, and (if possible) a link to the original. If you have a story currently on Veritas Fic and you believe you have left out a necessary attribution, please contact us and we will help you add whatever disclaimers you may need.

Also we will not archive Real Person Slash (RPS) or Fiction (RPF). Again, if you have any comments or questions, please e-mail the archivists at veritasfic@popullus.net.

Q: How should I format my stories for Veritas Fic?
A: All the formatting info can be found on the Upload help page. Additionally for your benefit, Dorothy Marley has put together a guideline for fan writers on posting stories:

A Formatting FAQ for Fanfic Authors

Marley's guide details just about everything you'd want to know about how to post to a mailing list, including things that trip many of us up and make it harder for people to read the postings, including line length, individual posting length, formatting, special characters, how to convert to ascii text, etc. Please avail yourself of her generosity as her rules for mailing lists are also useful for archives such as this one.

Q: Can I change or delete an already archived story?
A: Of course! Simply e-mail the archivists at veritasfic@populli.net.
